TransportationWashtenaw County maintains an attractive, progressive business climate. Located in the heart of both U.S. and Canadian markets, the County provides excellent transportation access to consumer and industrial markets.Washtenaw County, with its centralized location, is traversed by three major highways. I-94 runs east-west from Detroit to Seattle, Washington. US-23 runs north-south from Saginaw, Michigan to Toledo, Ohio and connects to both I-75, which extends from Canada to Florida, and I-96, which runs to Lansing and Grand Rapids. In addition, M-14 runs from Ann Arbor to Detroit. International connections to Canada can be made via I-69 to the BlueWater Bridge or through Detroit. Washtenaw County's transportation systems and geographic location provide firms with excellent access to local, domestic and international markets. Our county is located 10 miles west of Detroit Metropolitan Airport, North America's tenth busiest airport and the world's 14th busiest airport, based on total passengers for 2000. Detroit Metro is Northwest Airlines' North American hub, and serves over 40 other airlines. The airport offers more than 1,500 flights per day to domestic and international locations. There are daily flights to England, The Netherlands, Peoples Republic of China, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Japan, Italy, and France.
